SecuritySpy for Mac is NVR software (Network Video Recording software) that will enable you to quickly set up an effective video surveillance system, whether you are planning a small or medium-sized home or office installation, or a large professional system. Multi-camera CCTV software for the Mac!
SecuritySpy for macOS can capture from multiple cameras continuously or in response to motion detection, audio level detection, or external triggers. It can send notifications to your phone or email upon motion detection, and its remote monitoring features allow you to view and manage your system over the internet from anywhere in the world. With hardware-accelerated video processing, multi-threading and other optimizations, the tool can take full advantage of the power of your Mac, providing high performance with large numbers of cameras. If you are building a video surveillance system from scratch using network cameras, it can help you choose the right hardware to suit your needs. If you have an existing system using analogue cameras, SecuritySpy will enable you to upgrade to a digital system while still retaining your existing cameras and cabling. Features and Highlights Displays and captures from multiple cameras simultaneously SecuritySpy can capture video and audio from multiple cameras at the same time - for example, a Mac Pro can handle 76 cameras with 1 MP resolution and 8fps frame rate. Continuous Capture, Motion Capture and Actions Flexible recording options and notifications (emails, alarms and Apple Push Notifications) that can be scheduled independently at different times of the day or week. Built-in web server for remote monitoring View your app system over a local network or the Internet. Both standard HTTP and secure HTTPS are supported, with easy one-click setup. iPhone, iPad and Apple TV app The app has its own iOS/tvOS app to easily view your cameras on all your devices, from wherever you are. Pan/Tilt/Zoom (PTZ) support Control your cameras directly from the tool. Powerful real-time compression with hardware acceleration The app supports all industry-standard video and audio compression codecs (JPEG, MPEG-4, H.264, AAC) for efficient storage of captured footage. The app can either perform the compression itself or use compressed data directly so that the camera, not the computer, is doing all the work, resulting in the best performance and quality. Secure FTP upload features SecuritySpy can automatically upload all captured footage to a remote server for secure off-site storage. ONVIF support ONVIF is an open industry standard for IP-based security products, allowing easy integration of compatible devices. Any IP camera with ONVIF support should work with Security Spy. Note: 30 days trial version. Requires 64-bit processor.
The screen saver has been running quite nicely since my post on the 25th.Sometime this Californian afternoon it has stopped displaying the SS server to which it was connected, The screen saver still launches, and displays the little clock display wandering across the screen.I had swept the server's video setup ensuring H.264 feeds, but I'm also sure the machine running the screen saver was happily tracking along.aside from the release announcement is there some other thing I may of missed which would do this?. Checking back after some months. Finally got it working. Can't believe how simple it is.
Thank you for this useful tool.I think that the servers pane that you show in your first screenshot above needed some caption/clarification to indicate what should be in the servers field, and what password mac/camera, etc. should be entered in the password field.E.g., 'Input the LAN address of your Mac in this field. Check the Security Spy Web Server Settings pane Settings Menu to ensure that you have matching passwords and user names.'
Otherwise, trying to figure out which password and which web server address to use can take hours. Lots of ducks to line up there; it would still be tricky but at least one would be looking in the right places. Your older version of SecuritySpy does not have built-in HTTPS - this feature was added in version 3.4 - so for this you will need to upgrade. Version 3.4.7 is a free upgrade for anyone with an existing 3.x license (such as 3.1.1).
Simply quit your current SecuritySpy, drag it to your Applications folder (replacing the older version), and open the new version from your Applications folder.Hopefully this will resolve your problem with the screensaver. If not, check the username and password that is set in SecuritySpy and entered into the screensaver. If turning on authentication causes things to stop working with the screensaver, then there is something wrong with the authentication setup (e.g. Wrong username/password or incorrect permissions applied for the account in SecuritySpy - Web Server Settings - Account settings).Hope this helps. I bought ver.4 and still can get this screensaver to work.
The only way it works is running an older version on a separate computer, unchecking the 'password protect' option and using that computer as a screensaver server. The server displays the cameras fine except the additional cameras are displayed with the security spy watermark.
It's because it was bought as a 4 camera package and now I have 6. Obscuring the cameras displayed defeats the purpose of using it as a monitor for my home. 50% of the reason why I invested in 4 was because I'm determined to have the screensaver on all of our home computers. Hi from your message, it's a bit difficult to know exactly what is not working, however it seems that you are attempting to use some cameras in SecuritySpy beyond your 4-camera limit, is this correct?

Whereas SecuritySpy version 3 would still allow streaming of these via the web server (with the watermark), version 4 simply refuses the stream any cameras beyond the license limit. This was a necessary change due to some fundamental differences in the way that SecuritySpy now processes compressed video streams from cameras. One solution is to simply use an unregistered version of SecuritySpy in full-screen mode instead of the screensaver.
If it's unregistered, SecuritySpy allows you to view the camera streams only (i.e. No recording or streaming via its web server). Set it up to pull in video directly from all your IP cameras, and set it to full-screen mode for a screensaver-like viewing experience. I can confirm I just get a blank screen using SS 4.0.10 with the '1.3' version of the screen saver from the download link.
